What
is Virtual Web Hosting ?
We specialize
in Virtual Web Hosting, which means that you can find a
home for your Web site on our active SGI™ Web servers and
establish a presence on the Internet. We can help register
your own domain name, which will become your unique address
on the World Wide Web. You can set up your domain name/Web
address and create e-mail addresses that use your domain
(eg., www.yourwebaddress.com and user@yourwebaddress.com).
Can
I transfer an existing domain name to HostGarage™?
Yes. A
number of our customers have transferred domains to our service.
When you place an order by telephone, be sure to specify that
you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain.
How
can I register or transfer a domain?
There
are several ways you can get a domain name (Web address) for
your account. Domain names are managed by organizations called
"registrars." HostGarage™ can submit a domain name
registration request for you, we can submit a transfer request
for you or you can register/transfer a domain name yourself.
- HostGarage
Submits a New Domain Name Registration Request for You:
When
you request that we submit your domain name registration
for you (during the setup of your account), we submit
your domain name registration to www.DomainTicket.com™
. We use the contact information you give us at the
time of setup as the registrant (legal owner), administrator,
and billing contact(s).
Although
we submit this request for you, HostGarage is NOT RESPONSIBLE
for the domain's processing fees. www.DomainTicket.com
a $17.50 fee for 2 years and $8.75 for every year thereafter.
Your billing contact will receive an e-mail from
www.DomainTicket.com instructing them on how to
remit payment for the domain name. Domain names not
paid within 30 days are placed on hold.
Important
Notes: HostGarage is not responsible for domain names
that are already registered by other organizations or
registered incorrectly. We also do not perform registrations
with any registrar's other than DomainTicket.com
- HostGarage
Submits a Domain Name Transfer Request for You:
When
you ask us to submit a transfer request to your registrar
for you, Network Solutions sends an e-mail to your current
administrative and technical contacts to confirm your
domain name transfer. (To check the current contacts
of your domain name, you can go to DomainTicket
At least one of these contacts must confirm the request
for it to be completed. The process can take between
5 -7 business days provided the contact and e-mail information
is current.
Important
Note: If your domain's contact information is no longer
valid, the owner of the domain must send a fax, on company
letterhead, to HostGarage. The letter must indicate
the owner's authorization for HostGarage to host the
domain name. Please make sure to include the owner's
signature. If the fax does not include all of this information,
we will not be able to process the transfer. All faxes
should be directed to HostGarage HOSTMASTER. Our fax
number is 708.758-0305 .
If
your domain is being transferred from Worldnic or if
you registered a domain name with Register.com after
June 1, 1999, we need you to provide a user login/account
number and password for us to transfer your account.
You can e-mail this information to support@hostgarage.com
- Register
or Transfer a Domain Yourself
You
can register or transfer a domain name with a desired
registrar yourself. To successfully allow the registrar
to point your domain name to our Web servers, your registrar
requires information about our domain name servers (DNS).
Our DNS information is below:
Primary Hostname: NS57.1AND1.COM
Second Hostname: NS57.1AND1.COM
To
register a new domain yourself, you can go to DomainTicket
.
Once
your domain has been successfully registered, it takes
24-72 hours for it to be propagated throughout the Internet.
(To check if the domain name is pointing to our servers,
you can go to DomainTicket)
Until
that time you can use the IP address (from your welcome
letter) for your account to upload and view your Web
site. Once your domain name is processed, you will be
able to access your site via your domain name (http://www.mydomain.com).
Please note that e-mailboxes related to your domain
name will not work until the domain name is correctly
processed and pointed to our servers.
If
you have any further questions about your domain, you
can e-mail support@hostgarage.com
